First Annual Safety Awards at Saltchuk Risk Managers’ Conference

On May 14, 2009 at the Saltchuk Risk Managers’ Conference, Saltchuk President Tim Engle presented the first annual Saltchuk safety awards to Inlet Petroleum Company, which had zero lost time incidents in 2008. One award was for zero lost time incidents in 2008, and a second award, also presented to Inlet Petroleum, was for the most improved lost time incident rate from 2007 to 2008. Mike LaTorre, Director of Safety for North Star Utilities Group, accepted the awards on behalf of Inlet Petroleum, which is headquartered in Alaska and was unable to attend the Conference. The Conference, held annually in Seattle, is a venue where Saltchuk operating companies can share information and best practices on their respective safety programs.
